Hard-Earned Win for Audi R8 LMS

We're sure there are some racing fanatics like us around the Huntington area, who made a point to catch this past weekend's Pirelli World Challenge. As you can imagine, we were rooting for the Audi R8 LMS to hit the final lap of the Long Beach Grand Prix track first and boy, we were on the edge of our seats until the very end!

For those of you who didn't get a chance to see the action-packed sprint, allow us to get you in the loop. The Audi and its driver, James Sofronas, didn't have a lucky start as they kicked off the race from the pole position. Despite the R8's solid run into the first turn, it fell behind mid-race. Towards the end of the race, Sofronas was seemingly taking home the bronze, which many racers would surely settle with. However, he was not about to let go off his second consecutive victory that easily.

An odd turn of events featuring a major mechanical failure and another accident cleared the way for the R8 to triumph and Sofronas skillfully clutched the lead position in the end. It's almost a miniature "rags to riches" story, if you will.

Sofrona's number 14 vehicle benefits the Children's Tumor Foundation and is one of four Audis competing in the World Challenge races this season. There are plenty of more exhilarating twists and turns ahead as Sofronas heads to Circuit of the Americas facility in Austin, Texas on May 18th and 19th for the next wild Pirelli round.

At Audi of Huntington, we've come to terms with the likelihood of joining Sofronas on the race track but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the thrills a new Audi offers. Stop by our Huntington Station, NY location and our experts can help set you up with a test drive of a model that makes your heart race.
